4/22/22. Cassie interview

Obi (Boo) Ferret Schug

Good morning, everyone, and welcome to a fantastic Friday. We have brought back Cassie for a more in-depth interview in today's episode. Enjoy following along with Tonks and Mina as they make a new friend. If you have a pet or pets that you would like to see done up in a story or interview, please leave a comment, and we will reach out with some questions. We hope to find a way to get your fur babies in on the fun. Thank you for spending a part of your valuable time reading. I hope it brings a smile to your day. Obi.

Nympadora Arwen (Tonks) Schug
Sleeping.

T. Good morning, and welcome to another edition of Tonks Talk. My lovely sister, Mina, is joining me, of course. Good morning, Mina. I noticed Daddy got me sleeping again. He is such a jerk with the camera.

M. Thank you. I am happy to be here again. Daddy almost got me sleeping, but he bumped the cage, and I awoke just in time.

(Both Laugh)

T. Haha, it looks like Daddy got you after all.

M. (Facepaws) I'm so embarrassed. We need to see if Mommy can take his camera away.

T. I'll let you ask her. She is still a little annoyed at me, I guess. (Giggles)

M. (Shakes head) Maybe if you didn't try to bite her every chance you get. (Laughs with a deep belly laugh that gets Tonks laughing)

T. I just can't seem to help myself. ( the girls continue to giggle for a second)

M. I hope everyone out there had a great Easter weekend. Ours was full of shenanigans, which I have found is pretty standard when you have Daddy and Obi together.

T. They seem to know no shame! Sometimes, I'm embarrassed to even admit I know them.

M. Where was Daddy hiding the bunny suit and the egg launcher?

T. I still don't know; maybe it's in the attic. I can't believe Obi covered grapes with the foil from the little chocolate eggs.

M. I thought Mommy was going to kick them out of the house for good when all the plastic eggs opened, and live chicks fell out, running all over the place. I just don't understand how they pull these stupid things off.

T. Especially when we know they are up to something.

(Both girls let out a sigh.)

T. (Claps front paws together in excitement and looks at Mina.) Mina, I think it's time to introduce our guest, don't you?

M. (Looking back at tonks with a huge smile.) Fabulous idea.

(Both turn towards the guest)

Cassie Marie Shimmel

M. Cassie, good morning, and welcome to the program.

C. Thank you for having me back; it's lovely to meet you. (Looks from Mina to Tonks.) It's nice to see you again, Tonks.

T. (Smiles and bows head warmly). Once again, the pleasure is truly mine. You look wonderful. More relaxed, and there seems to be a glow of contentment that radiates from you. An aura, if you will.

C . (Looks down and blushes, then around and back at Tonks.) I didn't realize it was that obvious. Clears throat) I guess I'm just so happy because my Mommy is officially retired. (Both Tonks and Mina mumble sounds and words of mock jealousy, and then Mina speaks.)

M. You are so lucky. So many animals don't get the opportunity to be with a retired human.

(Mina and Tonks look at Cassie with newfound awe and respect.)

T. I am so happy for you, and yes, maybe even a little jealous

(All laugh)

C. (Humbly) Thank you so much. I do feel fortunate. I have an opportunity many only get to dream about.

M. (Looks at Tonks.) Tonks, I think that explains the glow.

T. Sis, you are right. But we have to know what it is like?

(Tonks and Mina are each frozen in a mix of curiosity and excitement)

C. (Looking as if staring off at distant mountains, begins) Amazing. Wonderful! Nothing I have ever seen or done compares to it. (Looks back at Tonks and Mina.) We still have a little work to do, but I almost have my Mommy 100% trained. I'm okay with it if she's outside gardening or birdwatching. But shopping and appointments still have to stop. (Mina snickers as she reads the words on her screen. Tonks continues to stare for a second.) She is home most days, so it isn't often. But, like I said, she is getting better about it.

T. (shakes head as if coming out of a trance.)  Sorry, I was lost there for a second. I was just thinking of having Mommy and Daddy home 24/7. (Mina sighs)

C. (Looks apologetic) Sorry, I didn't mean it as a complaint. (Blushes)

T. (Leans forward) I'm sorry, dear, I didn't intend to imply you were. I just imagined the possibilities.

M. (Grinning) With control of two humans, Obi would rule the world. (Laughs maniacally)

(Tonks groans, and then all three laugh.)

T. Walk us through an average day because I imagine it is like days when Mommy or Daddy are off, and they have nothing to do. Although, sometimes, they schedule things for their days off. That shows that we have a lot of training left to do in our house.

M. I don't know that I would want them to retire. (C and T look at M. Mina replies with one word.) Obi.

( they all nod and mumble in understanding, and Cassie speaks.)

C. An average day is when I do what I want, and my human does most of what I want. (Mina chuckles.) I get up whenever but still want my food ready. Usually have to scatter my toys because Mommy keeps putting them in a basket. If I wanted them there, I would put them there. (gives an exaggerated sigh, and everyone laughs. Mina's eyes glow with jealous greed as she envisions a basket full of toys.)

M. I know just what you mean. Unfortunately, we always have to steal our toys back in this house.

T. (Looking sideways at Mina) Maybe if some would just realize certain toys don't belong to them, to begin with.

(Daddy cuts in politely and says) Girls, we can talk about that later.

(Tonks and Mina both blush.)

T. Sorry about that.

C. That's ok. I know better than to ever allow you weasels around my toys. (Tension is diffused as all laugh again.)

M. Then what sort of things do you do?

C. I hang out with Mommy when she is at the computer. Since she isn't "working," she doesn't mind when I need attention. That means more lap time for me. Plus, we get to sit in the other chairs more often. I never have to worry about her being in meetings and things like that.

M. That sounds wonderful. Daddy works at the computer. Sometimes, he plays games or watches a show. He doesn't mind if we hang out then, but he prefers we not interrupt him when he is working.

C. That's how it was at my place.

T. Sounds to be as great as I imagined it would be. This seems like a perfect segue into your finding a home there. So why don't we start when you found yourself living in such ideal circumstances.

C. Of course. You probably remember that I lived alone out in the country. I don't know why I was alone, but I remember always being alone and scared. The weather was rough, and I was starving. I caught what I could, but it wasn't enough, and I was getting desperate.

M. I bet you ran up to the first human you saw. I think I would have.

C. Unfortunately, I spent much of my time trying to hide from humans. At that time, I hadn't met any. I saw many humans I now know but didn't realize they were friendly.

M. (With a look of newfound respect, Mina speaks.) Wow! So you really were wild. (Blushes, as she hadn't meant to say that thought aloud.) Sorry.

(Tonks giggles and Cassie snorts her approval of Mina.)

C. I was becoming careless and slow at that time because a woman, now my human, saw me. I know now that she wasn't the only one, either. Your daddy had also seen me.

M. (excitedly) You know Daddy? (Tonks and Cassie each chuckle.)

C. I sure do. I see your daddy often during the week. You see, once the human, who from now on I will just refer to as Mommy, saw me, she started putting some food out for me inside a wire box thing. One day, while I was eating inside it, a side wall came down and snapped shut.

(Mina gasps in fear.)

C. That is precisely how I felt. I was trapped. There was nothing I could do, and after a while, I saw Mommy approaching.

(even though She knew the story, Tonks was still leaning forward and listening attentively. Mina is 100% focused on Cassie, so Cassie continues.)

C. I felt doomed When she stepped through the gate and saw me, but she looked as surprised as I had felt. She seemed both happy and sad that I was stuck. She said she couldn't wait for me to get warm and eventually get out of that cage. As she approached the cage, she said many other things, and I sensed that maybe I didn't need to be so scared. So, finally, I let her touch me through the bars, and we went inside. She set me up there with a bigger cage and plenty of food. A few days later, I went to see a dr., and shortly after that, I was no longer in a cage.

M. (says in complete awe.) So incredible. You went from no Human to an all-time human overnight. That's like worst to first.

C. And you have yet to hear the half of it. I have other human friends. I already mentioned that I often see your daddy throughout the week, and several others come over almost as much. They spend tons of time on me since they aren't coming over for work but just hanging out with Mommy. Your daddy is one of my favorites.

T. (with a giggle) Careful, just cause he calls you princess doesn't mean he won't launch an egg at you.

(Everyone laughs)

T. Time for a short break. When we return, we will learn a little more about the extraordinary life of a fantastic feline. (Daddy gives the cut signal, and everyone laughs.)

Obi -during the break, a wrestling match broke out. Daddy managed to capture some of the action.-

Arwen

It looks to me like Arwen has realized she is losing this one and heading out of the sleepy sack.

Mina

Shortly after, my suspicion is confirmed as Mina Roars out in victory. Having taken the cave from the foul beast known as Arwen Tonks.

(Everyone is still talking and laughing while they return to their chairs. Daddy counts down, and Tonks starts us off.)

T. Welcome back to the show, and just so you know, Obi, I let her win because I knew we were out of time. (whispers, "I'll get you next time, sis and Mina grins.)

C. Your daddy seems to always know just when you guys need a break. Do all ferrets potty as often as you two?

(Arwen and Mina blush as Obi breaks out in thunderous laughter.)

C. Oops, sorry. I guess I should remember the audience's maturity. (She looks at Obi as Arwen and Mina laugh. Obi starts a retort, but Daddy pokes him in the ribs to hush him, making everyone laugh.)

T. To answer your question, Cassie, ye we do. (Looks at Obi) Some of us more often because they are so full....

D. (Daddy cuts in) Let it go, Tonks. Besides, I think you were set up. (Daddy holds up the Bleep button.) this was disconnected. I think someone was trying to get you ladies in trouble. (everyone glances at Sadie, but she looks back innocently, yet the corner of her mouth twitches ever so slightly.)

M. (Clearts Throat.) Cassie, I'd like to hear about some of your favorite activities. You've already seen how much we love wrestling and toys.

C. I don't like to wrestle like you kids, that's for sure. So I will play for a bit, but I don't want things to get rough. I like sitting on my mom's shoulder, but she never sits still long enough. My favorite activity is curling up around my mommy's hand while sleeping. It feels like we are holding each other.

(Mina has a tear forming on the corner of her left eye, while Tonks is smiling as if in a daydream. Cassie continues.)

C. During the day, there are some sunspots that I love to lie in, and as I mentioned earlier, we have visitors nearly every day.

T. (Tonks speaks with a particular wonder in her voice.) Living with a retired human sounds even better than I thought.

M. Yeah. But even though I feel a little jealous, I am happy here and fortunate. So I guess it's a little confusing.

C. (looks at Mina and says)  I think your situation is pretty dynamite, too.

T. (glances at everyone, then focuses on Cassie with a smile.) We've come to that time of the show again where we must say goodbye. But first. My favorite question. If you could be anything for a day, what would you be?

C. (Looks pensive for a moment) Hmm, like last time, birds, though not entirely for the same reason. Yes, the ability to indeed fly would be fascinating, but it's that Mommy gets so excited over birds. So the way I see it, If I were a bird, Mommy would still love me almost as much as now.

T. (sniffs and wipes a tear.) Once again, you end the show with something so sweet and profound. Mina, why don't you close us out?

M. (wiping a tear), of course. Thank you very much for Joining. I hope you enjoyed today's episode, and we look forward to seeing you tomorrow. Take care.
