Tonks Talk 6/15. Lane area ferret shelter residents looking for homes

Hooray, and welcome back to the studio. After a couple weeks off, the ladies will be joining us today with some visitors from the local ferret shelter looking for homes. So without further ado, here are Tonks and Mina. Enjoy!

Tonks. (Excitedly) Thank you soo much for that introduction, Remus. I am so happy to be back in the studio after a short vacation. Mina, Welcome and so lovely to see you here as well. I trust you had a fantastic break?

Mina. I have to say that it was pretty relaxing. I managed to snatch some of the new toys that came into the house and get them with my stash. You have to be pretty quick in this house with Remus and toys. 

Tonks. You haven't seen anything. When Ben was still alive, he had piles of toys stashed around the house and visited them frequently to ensure none went missing. Mommy and daddy tell all kinds of stories about Ben and his stashes. Remus isn't to Ben's status yet, but he is on his way. 

Mina. I think it is funny how Remus walls himself in with his toys. For those that don't know, Remus is primarily deaf, and I am totally deaf. When we are out of our cage, we can sleep anywhere. Remus will find a spot and haul toys over. he will then go under the dresser or whatever and pull the toys around him. That way, he can't be surprised by anyone. It's impossible to get through the toys without waking him. It's Genius!

T. The first time daddy saw that he went and got mommy so she could see. They both agreed on how clever it was. That was back when Remus was new, and Obi would pick on him.

M. At least they get along nicely now. (Clasps front paws together) I hear that we have a plethora of guests here today. (Mina looks at daddy and winks.) 

Daddy. (Sighs) It was a stretch, but you can get an extra treat for word usage. True, I didn't think you would manage to make plethora work, though I think you would need more guests for it indeed to be a plethora as then we could have an excess of guests. I will allow it. (Mina squeaks with delight and claps.)

T. (Smiling) We have quite a few guests today as we are being visited by the Lane Area Ferret Shelter and Rescue. We will bring everyone in as separate groups, ask a few questions and hopefully find some new homes for our friends. 

While the ladies are talking, Obi brings in a few guests, and Sadie brings in some snacks and Pickle Juice. Once everyone is settled, Mina welcomes our guests.

M. (Smiling warmly.) And it looks like it's time to get started as we welcome Coral, Sid, and Dory to the Program. Thank you for joining us today.

Coral. (Blushes) Thank you so much for having us. We have heard so much about the show, and it's terrific to finally meet you both. We hear so much about you at the shelter.

 T. It Seems like just yesterday we lived there. Coral, why don't you tell everyone about yourself and what brought you to the shelter?

Coral

Coral. Well, thank you. As was mentioned, my name is Coral. I am a domestic ferret, Approximately six months old, and a Black Sable in color. My birth date was 11/12/21

M. A very Lovely black sable, I might add. (Coral notices Mina's tablet and asks about it.)

Coral. Is that tablet where you have all your questions?

M. (Smiling) The tablet changes what everyone says into a text format for me. I am deaf and can read lips, but only if the animal faces me, so daddy got Remus and me each a tablet so we could keep up with the conversations. Obi likes to change the language on them to mess with us, but Remus knows how to undo most of Obi's shenanigans. 

Coral. We have heard so much about Obi at the shelter. We actually heard he was quite the scoundrel and not to be trusted. (Everyone turns at a small whimper from the back of the room to see Obi looking shocked and hurt.)

T. Ah, pay no heed to the champagne idiot in the back of the room. He has no feelings to hurt. 

At this, everyone, including Obi, laughs. Coral continues.

Coral. (With a look of adoration, Coral looks towards the ferret on her right.) On my right is my brother and absolute bestest friend in the whole world, Sid.

Sid

Sid. (Sid blushes but never takes his eyes off Obi.) I Thought Obi had to be a myth, but it's really you. (At this, everyone laughs again, and Sid blushes, but Tonks jumps in to rescue him.)

T. Don't worry, Sid. You aren't the first to be surprised that Obi is real. Even though we wish he weren't sometimes. (Tonks winks a Sid and continues) Sis, go ahead and tell us about yourself.

Sid. Of course. I am also a black sable like my sis, six months old. My birth date was also 11/12/21. 

M. Who do we have peaking their little face around? I almost didn't see you hiding back there.

With a mischievous grin, a small face appears behind Sid, and a soft giggle can be heard before the creature speaks.

Dory. My name is Dory. I'm a little shy. I am three months old and born on 01/02/22. I am silver in color. 

Dory

T. And you look absolutely fabulous. It's such a pleasure to have you on the program. 

Dory. (Blushes) Thank you for having us. We heard such nice things about the show, but I was still nervous. 

M. Were all three of you from the same home, or did you meet at the shelter? Anyone can answer.

All three ferrets glance at each other then Coral speaks up.

Coral. (With a sad face) We all came from the same home. Sid and I were there first, and then Dory joined. Then quite suddenly, our human became very ill and could no longer care for us, so we came to the shelter.

Dory. I hope it wasn't my fault. (At this, everyone looks at Dory, and Coral rushes to give her a hug.)

Coral. We have been over this, dear. It wasn't your fault. Sometimes these things happen. You heard what they said at the shelter.

T. (With a warm smile.) Don't worry, little one, you won't be there long. They will find the perfect home for you. Speaking of which, How do folks find out about you and see you?

Sid. First, they will want to call the shelter and do a short phone interview.

Dory. The shelter will want to be sure potential adopters understand all the ins and outs of owning ferrets. 

Coral. After that, they make an appointment to see what ferrets are available. 

Sid. The phone interview will also make it easier for the shelter mom to try and fit the right ferrets with the right home. 

M. They ask some great questions. Am I to assume that you must all go together? 

Dory. Sid and Coral must go together, but I can go separately since I recently joined them. 

T. That is excellent information to know. So how does someone make an appointment?

M. I am so glad you guys could make it to the show. I hope you hang out for a bit, hear some of Obi's tales, and eat a snack or two. Maybe even start up a friendly wrestling match.

S. (Excitedly) You mean I can wrestle with the legend? 

Groans are heard as Obi beams with delight.

Obi. A Legend...
