Taking a stroll with Tilly and Meg, Pt 2
Hello, and welcome back. Today, Tonks and Mina will continue the interview with Miss Tilly and Meg. We start with Tonks talking to Meg for a while, and then Mina and Miss Tilly join in. Please enjoy and leave a comment.

Tonks. Thank you for another great intro, Remus. You are such a natural gentleman, unlike some others around here. (While saying this, Tonks stares daggers at Obi and Daddy.)
Mina, It sounds like someone is in a bit of trouble. (after this, Mina starts to giggle.)
Tonks. That's quite an understatement. In fact, I'm going to discuss this with Mommy. I mean, how can she let them get away with this stuff.
Mina. The problem is that they don't do it when Mommy is home. Only when she is house-sitting.
Tonks. Mommy could disconnect the internet and take away the computer next time. They kept me up almost all night, playing video games each of the last two nights.
Mina. (with a big grin.) Careful of what you wish for. Without computers or the Internet, they would bring out a board game. It would be the most obnoxious, like Monopoly or Risk.
Tonks. (Sighs) I know you are right, and that just makes it worse. (Meg chuckles from her seat as she sits down, and Tonks and Mina turn her way. Just then, Tilly also arrives and takes a seat.)
Mina. Good morning, ladies. That was perfect timing. We were discussing the extended festivities around the Juneteenth celebration and those two jerks' late-night video game marathons. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Juneteenth
Meg. I don't see the problem. They don't make that much noise. (tonks stares at Meg, and Mina clears her throat.)
Mina. Of course, you would say that. You would defend Daddy no matter what, and I think it's disgusting.
(Mina glares at Meg till she bursts out laughing, followed by everyone else.)
Tonks. Time to get back on track. Tilly, it looks like you can relax as it's gonna be Meg's turn to chat for a bit. (Tonks turns towards Meg.) Meg, how about telling us about yourself?
Meg. Like Tilly, I am an American Shorthair. Tuxedo in color.

Meg |
Tonks. That is a stunning Photo. I have to say I love your new halter.
Meg. (Frowns) I'm not a massive fan of it, but Daddy says I will need it to go on walks with him and Tilly.
Tonks. (looking confused) But Tilly doesn't need a leash and a halter? Why do you?
Meg. (Smiles back at tonks and answers.) I wasn't sure either, and I even got upset about it., but then Daddy explained, and it all made sense. Tilly has lived outside for a long time and understands the many dangers. Tilly understands when to hide, run, or investigate. On the other hand, I wouldn't know what to do, which is what Daddy says would be the most dangerous for me.
Tonks. So the halter and leash are for your safety?
Meg. (Smiles triumphantly) Exactly. For instance, if there were a loud bang, I would run in the opposite direction. Daddy says the problem is that I wouldn't know where to go and could run into the street or other dangers.
Tonks, Now it all makes sense. Thank you for sharing that. Let's talk more about yourself. Did you come from a shelter like we did? How Long have you lived here?
Meg. (pensively) I'm not from a shelter but was rescued. I was found in the wild almost eleven years ago and brought here. (Tonks and Meg both become captivated immediately. The ferret's sense of adventure had taken over, and Meg leaned forward to speak.)
Mina. I would dearly love to hear this tale. (Tonks nods, agreeing with Mina.)
Meg. As I said, it was almost eleven years ago when I was found. I was still a young kitten. Mommy and Daddy said I was about three weeks old. I don't remember exactly what happened. I just remember waking up outside, alone and cold. There were lots of sounds, and it was really dark. After a while, I found a building to hide under. I was so hungry and scared that I cried myself to sleep. (Remus brings over a box of tissues and sets them on the table where everyone can reach it. Tonks mouths a "Thank you" back as Meg continues.) It seemed as if I had only slept for a couple minutes when I was awoken by the sounds of humans. I didn't really know what humans were, but they talked. Before I realized what I was doing, I was meowing. This brought the humans close, which made me stop. What if they were dangerous? They would find me unless I was quiet. So I hid.
Tonks. (Confused) If you were hiding, how did you get caught?
Meg. (smiling) It was almost a week before they found me. (Meg looks at Tilly and speaks.) Little trigger warning. When the humans first heard me, they looked but couldn't see me. They eventually questioned whether they had heard anything at all and stopped looking. There hadn't been any cats around there for a long time. Finally, they went back to work. I spent the remainder of the day in hiding. By the evening, I was so hungry I had to look for food. Fortunately, the people left, and I could wander a bit. I couldn't find my mommy or my siblings. Nor could I find any food. I started eating anything I could find. Spiders and many other insects. I even tried a slug, but it made my mouth yucky for a long time.
Tilly. I know exactly what you mean. They are nasty. I am glad I no longer have to wander around searching for food.
Tonks. Since you both agree, I hope I never have to eat one. (Everyone laughs.) So you said it was a week before you were found?
Meg. Well, almost a week. The first human that came looking for me was Daddy. I just didn't know that at the time. They said it was five days before I was caught.
Tonks. (Looks at Meg with newfound respect.) You must have been as tough as a Badger kit. (At this, everyone laughs.)
Meg. I sure didn't feel like it. On the day I was found, I had gotten so desperate that I didn't care anymore if the humans heard me. So I just kept screaming for my birth mommy. Then, after a while, I heard some humans approaching. So, I instinctively got as quiet as possible, but it was too late. They knew right where I was, and I thought I was doomed. It was at this moment a hand grabbed me. I bit down out of fear, but it wouldn't let go. The next thing I knew, I was handed over to another human, and this human happened to be Mommy.
Tonks. (looking astonished) That was so intense. Did you hurt the other human badly?
Meg. I was so weak that I wasn't strong enough to cause much pain. That was probably a good thing since that was Daddy's boss.

Tonks. Once you were caught, then what happened?
Meg. Mommy took me to the vet for an exam and some tests. After that, we came here. Home. Daddy was already home, and he couldn't wait to meet me. There was also a cat named Piper.
Tonks. Did it take you very long to adjust?
Meg. It was not very long. Mommy and Daddy worked on teaching me things. I loved playing, so Daddy taught me to play fetch and wrestle. He and Mommy taught me things like sitting, lying down, and coming when called. All this made it really easy for me to trust them. I'm also okay with Daddy's kids, but I don't really like any other humans and try to avoid them.
Tonks. Would that also be why we never see any TikTok videos of you? I'm surprised Mommy and Daddy don't film you talking and post that. (everyone laughs at this, and Meg blushes.)
Meg. I may have been told once or twice that I talk a lot. But Mommy and Daddy seem to like it.
Mina. They like talking to us regardless. (Everyone agrees with this sentiment.)

Tonks. Tilly takes her special walks with Daddy. Do you have any special activities?
Meg. I don't have any particular activities. However, I spend time with Daddy whenever he is in the house. I have a bed beside the computer that I sleep in whenever he is working or playing games. Otherwise, I hang out wherever he goes. I also sleep up by his head at night. (Tilly's eyes flash with jealous irritation at Meg's answers. Tonks notices and brings it up.)
Tonks. Tilly, you seem unhappy, or do you disapprove? Or is it a little jealousy, I sense?
Tilly. (Tilly blushes, unaware she had telegraphed her emotions.) You got me. Even though I sleep on Daddy's lap, I get jealous that she sleeps by his head. (This brings a fresh round of gentle, friendly laughter.)
Tonks. You both have unique relationships with both Mommy and Daddy. Thank you for sharing. Unfortunately, that brings us to the end of today's episode. Join us next week when we dig deeper with our guests and discover what makes them tick.
Mina. Until then, I would like to thank Meg and Tilly for being here. I can't wait to see what fun answers we get next week. Take care, all, and thank you for joining us on Tonks Talk.
Remus.
Thanks again for joining us, and we hope you had fun reading. Next week, The Ladies will ask a series of fun questions, and I can't wait to see the answers. Until then, thank you for reading, and take care.
