5/7/22 Gooch and Dexter part 2

Good morning, everyone, and welcome to Saturday. Today, Tonks and Mina are continuing their interview with Gooch and Dexter. So, let's jump back in.

Tonks

    T. Good morning, and welcome to Tonks Talk. Today, my lovely sister and I will finish our extended interview with Gooch and Dexter. (Looks at Mina) Mina, Good morning dear, and how are you?

Mina

M. Good morning back atcha! Doing excellent this morning, thank you for asking. And you?

T. Couldn't be better. Had a wonderful time with the houseguests last night. (Looks over at a tired Gooch and a red-eyed Dexter)

M. (Mina follows Tonks' gaze and sees the pathetic duo) Good Morning, Fellas, welcome to the show. Looking quite energetic today. I trust we didn't keep you guys up too late? (She says this last with a smirk and a gleam in her eye.) 

G. Nah, we didn't stay up too late, but I think I ate too much. That was some spread. 

T. Um, I don't think that everything that fell out of the fridge when you guys tipped it was supposed to be part of the "Spread." (Mina and Tonks giggle, while Gooch groans and Dexter asks what he missed)

(Obi walks in and offers Gooch and Dexter snacks and refreshments. Gooch covers his eyes with his paws and says, "Oh please, no!" Dexter rushes out to the backyard. Everyone laughs finally. Gooch joins in, as does Dexter).

D. I won't be able to eat again for a week. I don't know what the last straw was: the lasagna or the Ice Cream.

G. It was definitely those three dozen eggs for me. I never should have had those after all those hot dogs. 

(Tonks and Mina continue to giggle. Finally, Tonks speaks up)

T. I do have to say I was impressed. I didn't think either of you could run that fast, especially carrying two ferrets each.

M. Daddy isn't going to be too happy when he finds out.

T. Daddy's not going to be happy - not when he wakes up with the headache he's gonna have. Obi doubled Daddy's sleep meds, and he's still out cold. Once he knows, Obi got the better of him. Hey Gooch, mind if we come over tonight?

G. I think once a week is enough. 

(everyone laughs again)

Dexter

T. Well, let's jump back into things. Yesterday, we learned a bit about your backgrounds and how you found your forever homes. Now, let's get to know a little more about each of you. I've heard you guys have a second particular person in your lives that you each find remarkable. 

M. In fact, you mentioned them yesterday. 

(Remus hits a button, and we hear Dexter's voice come over the speakers) "D. I used to, but not much anymore. Daddy takes me on a lot of walks, and when he can't, someone else comes to do it".

(Dexter and Gooch shout at the same time) Francis!

M. (with a big smile) Outside of your Daddy, you guys had the nicest things to say about Francis. Gooch, what are your favorite things about Francis?

G. (Pensively) Hmmm. Francis comes over on days when Daddy can't be home and basically does everything that Daddy does with us. For example, he takes us on walks and gives us lots of treats.

D. I agree. Francis is totally awesome. I love the way Francis plays with us, and he lets me play my favorite game, which is to keep the toys away from Gooch.

T. We definitely do a lot of toy stealing around this house. Heck, we are always keeping toys away from each other. (Everyone laughs) 

T. (With a serious face and tone) Recently, your Daddy left for a while. Longer than a day. What was that like for you, and how did you spend your time?  Gooch, why don't you go first?

G. Sure. He got up earlier than usual one morning, and that was my first clue that something was amiss. The next clue was that I saw him with one of those bags humans use while going on trips. They put all their goofy clothes and stuff in them. 

M. Oh, I know what you mean. Just like Mommy's bags when she is house-sitting. 

T. (Her eyes light up as it dawns on her.) That's right. She only gets that bag when she is leaving overnight.

G. Exactly, so I knew he might be gone overnight. He left me for a long time last year. It was an entire moon cycle. Anyway, I was pretty sad and thought Daddy had abandoned me. A human took care of me, but he wasn't very nice. I got to see your daddy a few times and wish I could have left with him, but he told me to have faith that my daddy would come home. When Daddy got home from that trip, he said he wouldn't leave me like that again, so I knew he would be back.

D. Then why were you such a worry-wart. I saw you going to and from Daddy's room each morning and night. You also did it during the day whenever you thought I was sleeping. 

G. (Looking back at Dexter as if betrayed) Maybe I was just worried about him. You know Daddy isn't very good on his own and needs a lot of guidance.

D. You just like to pamper him. 

( The girls can't help but giggle at this exchange and begin to wonder if there is going to be another wrestling match, but Gooch lets them down when he sighs while saying) 

G. It's true. I do. (Everyone laughs)

M. How about you, Dexter? What was it like?

D. (Shrugs) I missed him (looks at Gooch and shakes his head), but not that much. I've been through a lot in my life, yeah, he was the best dad I had had, but I wasn't really worried.

G. (Hollars) Hah! I call Shenanigans. If you weren't so worried, why did you race me to Daddy when he got back. Plus, all the humans said your face lit up with joy when you saw Daddy.

(Dexter blushes while everyone laughs. Finally, he says)

D. ok, ok. I was worried. He has been the best dad I've ever had. The renters took outstanding care of us, though.

G. Between the renters and Francis, we got to do most things we do when Daddy is here.

T. (With front paws clasped together) That is so sweet. I love coming together parties. We have come to that part of the show again but with a twist. See, not only do I get to ask my favorite question, but Mina also gets to ask one.

M. (also excited and clapping): That's right. So this time, Dexter, you get to go First, and I'm gonna ask you my question, followed by Tonks. Then Tonks will ask Gooch, followed by me.

D. Ok. I'm ready.

M. (So gleefully she can hardly contain herself) If you could take all the accommodations paid for, a one-time trip, anywhere in the world, where would you go?

D. I would go to Mongolia. Being a Nomad myself, it only seems natural that I travel to the land of true nomads. Me and all that land to explore, I would be in heaven!

M. (claps) Love it. Great answer. (Looks at Tonks) Tonks?

T. (Smiling broadly) Dexter, If you could be anything for a day, What would you be?

D. (Blushes) Aww, you know me. I would just be me. I'm content. If I could be something else, I'd be a human. Then I could wander, and no one would care. I could roam all over doing good deeds unnoticed. That would be nice.

T. (wipes a tear) That is such a sweet answer. Gooch, same question?

G. (with a big grin) I would be a food critic. I would spend my time traveling and getting paid to eat at restaurants for free. Sign me up cause that's a vocation that could grow on me. 

T. The size of your waste would really grow on you. (Everyone, including Gooch, laughs at this.) Mina, he's all yours.

M. Okay, gooch. It seems like I know the answer, but if you could go anywhere in the world, free of charge, one-time-only, where would you go?

G. Hmm, I have never traveled out of the Pacific NW. But as long as there is plenty of food, I really don't care! 

(At this, everyone cheers, and Daddy wakes up. Obi heads for the door)

Daddy. Hold it, Weasel! (The last is directed at Obi) Where do you think you're going?

T. Well, that's all that we have time for today.

M. Thank you for joining us, everyone. We can't wait to see you all next Friday.

T. I can't wait to report what happens on the Memoirs page. (both girls laugh) 

M. Goodnight, everyone.
